Do You Need PS Plus To Play Apex Legends?

Do you require PS Plus to play Apex Legends? Anyone with a PlayStation 4 and some free time this weekend might be asking the same thing. For all we know, EA’s new battle royale game may be free to play (aside from the microtransactions transactions), but when you pay for online access, it’s not at all free, or is it?

Fortunately, like other free-to-play games such as Fortnite: Battle Royale, PS Plus isn’t required for Apex Legends. Still, a subscription to the PlayStation service can provide you with several advantages. This is what you should be aware of the costs involved in playing the latest Fortnite-killer on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

APEX LEGENDS AND PS PLUS PACKS

As we mentioned above, PS Plus isn’t required to play Apex Legends; however, if you already paid for the subscription, you’ll be able to redeem the special PS Plus Pack with some specific cosmetic items that are only available for PS4 gamers. The pack includes new versions of two skins (RE45 Flatline and Flatline), banners for two of the characters in the game (Gibraltar Bloodhound and Bloodhound), and other items.

APEX LEGENDS AND XBOX LIVE GOLD

For Xbox One owners, this is the only platform that requires an online account to be able to play Apex Legends. You’ll need to join Xbox Live Gold if you aren’t already. The price is $59.99 to cover 12 months of service, $24.99 for three months, and $9.99 for a month.

There are also Xbox benefits available to Apex Legends players; however, only if you also purchase EA Access, another subscription service that grants early access to games and provides free downloads for other games. EA Access costs $4.99 per month or $29.99 for a year, and if you’ve got it, you’ll get 1000 Apex Coins, a special badge, a unique weapon skin, and other cosmetic things.

APEX LEGENDS ON PC

Then, PC gamers have the option of playing Apex Legends for no cost; it shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone familiar with gaming on PC. However, you’ll need to join Origin Access from EA to receive that bonus item. Origin Access ($4.99 a month or $29.99). As with Xbox, the reward you receive is 1000 Apex Coins, a special badge, a custom weapon skin, and various cosmetic things.

In all honesty, the truth is that none of these exclusive loot packs is the excitement. The most exciting stuff comes through opening Apex Packs that are available in the game or purchasing them from the store directly. However, if you’re paying for these services online, you could also take advantage of the prize.
